Meghan Markle is an American model and actress who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama ‘Suits’ that is telecast on the USA Network.
On 27 November, 2017, the British Royal Family announced the engagement of Prince Harry, the son of Princess Diana, to Meghan. It may be noted that Prince Harry is fifth in the line to the British throne.
Early Life and Education
Rachel Meghan Markle was born on 4th August, 1981 to an African American mother, Doria Ragland, and a Caucasian father, Thomas W. Markle. Her mother works as a yoga teacher and psychotherapist. Her father is an Emmy award winning lighting director. Markle’s parents divorced in 1988.
Meghan spent her early childhood in the neighborhood of Hollywood, California. She went to several private schools, including the Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse and the all-girls Catholic school ‘Immaculate Heart High School’. She was initially referred to by her first name, i.e., Rachel. She later began using ‘Meghan,’ her middle name.
Meghan attended Chicago’s Northwestern University and graduated with a double major in theater and international studies. As part of the University’s coursework, Markle spent some time as an intern at the American embassy in Buenos Aires.

- From 2004 to 2011, Meghan dated producer and actor Trevor Engelson. They wed on 10th September, 2011 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The couple divorced in 2013.
- A mutual friend set up a blind date between Prince Harry and Meghan and this was their first meeting. They started dating in 2016. In October 2016, the media got wind of the relationship and began reporting on it. There were many racist, sexist, and defamatory articles about Markle.
