Sarah Elizabeth “S. E.” Cupp is a reputed American conservative political commentator as well as a writer. She is also a television personality and has gained popularity due to her appearances on various debate panels and her role as a panelist on the CNN’s political debate show ‘Cross Fire’. Cupp has had an illustrious career. She began her career in 2001 and in the years since, has been associated with many major networks including Fox News, CNN and MSNBC. Apart from that she has written for various A-list publications such as The New York Times, New York Daily News, The Washington Post, Townhall, etc. Cupp is also an author having written ‘Why You’re Wrong About the Right’, along with Brett Joshpe, as well as ‘Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media’s Attack on Christianity’, of which she is the sole author.

Early Life and Education

Cupp was born on 23 February 1979 in the city of Carlsbad, California to Patricia Cupp and her husband and is the only daughter of her parents. She was raised in Andover, Massachusetts for a few of her early and teenage years where she was a student of the Academy of Notre Dame. She started studied Ballet professionally when she turned 6 and continued it until her teen years.

Cupp attended and graduated from Cornell University in the year 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History. While at Cornell she wrote for the University’s independent daily newspaper called The Cornell Daily Sun. Cupp also earned herself a Master of Arts degree in Religious studies from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.

Career Rise

Cupp’s career started moving upwards after she won a position at The New York Times as an editor and writer. She frequently appeared as a guest on 3 major cable news channels namely Fox News, CNN and MSNBC. Besides she has written for several established publication houses such as The Washington Post, The American Spectator, New York Daily News, Townhall, Maxim, Newsmax, The Daily caller etc. Cupp was hired in the capacity of a columnist for the Daily News in 2009 and as a commentator and writer for Mercury Radio Arts in 2011, where she won her own show titled “S.E. Cupp”. The show is currently on air on TheBlaze TV.

In July 2012, Cupp was named one of the hosts of ‘The Cycle’ on the CNBC network; a show she co-hosted along with Krystal Ball, Touré, and Steve Kornacki.

Cupp was named one of the panellists for CNN’s ‘Crossfire’ in June 2013 where she shared the panel with Stephanie Cutter, Van Jones and Newt Gingrich.  She made her final appearance on ‘The Cycle in June 2013. She is scheduled to host a new program for the sister network HLN from June 2017.

The 1.88 meter tall Cupp is married to John Goodwin, a former chief of staff to Representative Raúl Labrador. The couple met for the first time in 2008 at a Republican convention but only began dating in 2011. They announced their engagement in September 2102 and tied the knot in November 2013. Together they have one child; a son named John Davies Goodwin III, born in 2014.
