Deepika Padukone is a model and actress from India. She is one of the highest paid celebrities in India. She won several awards for her films and is an established person in Bollywood.
Early Life and Background
Deepika was born on 5th January, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She was raised in Bangalore, India. Her parents, Prakash Padukone, an eminent badminton player and mother Ujjala, a travel agent have another daughter Anisha, who is a golfer. She did her schooling from Sophia High School and completed her pre-university education from Mount Caramel College. She had applied for Bachelors of Arts in Sociology at IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) but later quit it because of her conflicts in schedule of modeling career.
Career Achievements
Prasad Bipada was the man who guided Deepika during her full-time modeling career. She started her career with an advertisement for Liril soap. She modeled for several products and in 2005 made a runaway in Lakme Fashion Week. She was also selected for the Kingfisher Calendar in 2006. Deepika relocated in Mumbai at the age of 21 and appeared in a musical video of Himmesh Reshammiya’s Naam Hai Tera. Faraah Khan later noticed her in the video and cast her in the film Happy New Year.
A film called Aishwarya in Kannada was her debut movie. On 2006, Happy New Year got shelved but she was cast in a 2007 released film Om Shanti Om. This was her first Bollywood movie. She then did Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008. Chandni Chowk to China failed in the box-office in 2009, but she re-established her success through Cocktail which released in 2012. This film gave her best actress nomination in many award ceremonies. She then went on to do Race 2 in 2013 and later gave two hits, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express.
Deepika got several awards by doing Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. She did a Tamil film Kochadaiiyaan and Happy New Year later. She also appeared in a video on Feminism called My Choice that received mixed reaction amongst everyone but mostly positive. Her role as Piku in the movie Piku with Amitabh Bachchan was a career changer. Deepika appeared in Tamasha which received poor financial returns but her character was praised by critics. Bajirao Mastani is her last movie where she received the best actress’ award.
She will soon be appearing in her first Hollywood film opposite Vin Diesel, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, an action movie.

Deepika was in a relationship with Ranbir Kapoor initially, but they broke up within a year. She then dated Siddharth Mallya, Kingfisher owner Vijay Mallya’s son. Since 2013, she has been in relationship with Bollywood actor, Ranveer Singh.
