Erin Jill Andrews or Erin Andrews is a television personality and a sportscaster from America. She presently works for Fox Sports called FOX College Football. Erin is also the host of a show, Dancing with the Stars, held on the ABC network. She is often seen on-air for many major sports related events like World Series and Super Bowl.

Early Life and Background

Born on 4th May 1978, in Lewiston, Maine, to Paula and Steven Andrews, Erin and family moved to San Antonio, Texas when she was five years old. Paula was a teacher and Steven was a TV journalist. They later moved to Tampa, Florida after 18 months when her father, a winner of 6 Emmy Awards, began working as an investigative journalist for WFLA-TV, an NBC affiliate.

Describing herself as a tomboy in her youth days, Andrews lived a life that revolved around sports. She watched NBA games with her father and particularly grew up watching Boston Celtics games. She went to Bloomingdale High School in Florida and was a member of the student government, a dance team and the National Honor Society. While in her growing up days she attended Brandon School of Dance Arts situated in Florida. She shared that she did not have any female friends during her high school days as she loved talking about sports with boys.

Andrews graduated the high school in 1996 and attended University of Florida. She graduated in 2000 with B.A in telecommunication from the university. Andrews was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and a dance team called Florida Gators Dazzlers for 3 years, from 1997-2000. Her sister’s name is Kendra Andrews, who is a professional dancer and an actress.

Career Achievements

In 2000, she worked for Fox Sports Florida as a freelance reporter. For one year (2001-2002), she worked as a Tampa Bay Lightning reporter for Sunshine Network. From 2002-2004, she worked for the Turner South network as a reporter and studio host and covered the Atlanta Thrashers, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves.

In April 2004, she began working for ESPN in ESPN National Hockey Night. In 2011, Erin signed a contract with Reebok for endorsement purposes. Erin Andrews announced her resignation from ESPN to join Fox Sports. It was announced in February 2014, that Erin would take the place of Brooke Burke-Charvet in Dancing with the Stars, as a co-host. Later, on July 2014, it was said that Andrews would be a substitute of Pam Oliver on NFL Broadcasting crew as a sideline reporter.

Controversy

Erin was caught in a major controversy in 2008, because of Michael David Barrett in 2008. She was being secretly filmed by him in a hotel room being bare. This incident took place in Nashville Marriott. Michael had reportedly filmed her through peepholes. The video was posted on the internet and went viral.

He was sent to jail in 2010 for two and half years and fined money for his act. He served his sentence and was released in 2012. Andrews had sued the hotel staff for invasion of privacy and negligence in connection to the taping of the video. She has filed cases against Michael and was given compensation accordingly

Apart from this income from her position as a sportscaster, Erin Andrews’s annual earnings include $700,000 as host for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and $100,000 as endorsement fee, taking the overall total to $1,600,000. Before the lawsuit judgement, Erin Andrews’ net worth was $3 million.
