Mika Emilie Leonia Brzezinski is a reputed American television host and author. She is also a political commentator and appears on the weekday morning broadcast show ‘Morning Joe’ that airs on MSNBC Network which she co-hosts with her fiancé Joe Scarborough. She is acclaimed for her dedication to hard-hitting journalistic stories. Brzezinski also serves as a visiting professor at the Harvard Institute of Politics which is a part of Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Early Life and Education
Brzezinski was born on 2 May 1967 in New York City to Zbigniew Brzezinski, a former National Security Advisor and foreign policy expert and Emilie Anna Benešová, a sculptor. Her father was the National Security Advisor to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Brzezinski has two brothers Mark and Ian Brzezinski. While Mark is an American diplomat and also served as an Ambassador to Sweden, Ian is a military expert.
Brzezinski was a student at The Madeira School from where she completed her high school education. As a junior, she went to Georgetown University and later transferred to attend Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts from where she graduated in 1989 with a Major in English.
Career Rise
Brzezinski started her career in journalism in 1990 in the capacity of an assistant at the ‘World News This Morning’ program on the ABC network. In the following years, she worked at Fox network’s affiliate WTIC-TV/WTIC-DT, in 1991 as a general assignment reporter, at CBC’s WFSB-TV/WFSB-DT as a weekday anchor and at CBS News where she worked as a correspondent as well as anchor for ‘Up to the Minute’ an overnight program. In 2001, she started working at MSNBC, a rival of CBS News on ‘HomePage’, a weekday afternoon show that she co-anchored with Ashleigh Banfield and Gina Gaston, but returned to CBS News in the September of the same year. She served as a ‘ground zero’ correspondent reporter during the 9/11 Attacks in USA, a move that catapulted her into limelight. Although she found fame at CBS, she was fired in 2006.
In January 2007, Brzezinski returned to the MSNBC Network where she covered the evening slot of ‘Up To The Minute’, a news update program. She also worked as a news reporter and anchor for the affiliate NBC for the show ‘Weekend Today’. After she resigned from both the shows, she was selected by Joe Scarborough to co-host ‘Morning Joe’ alongside him and Willie Geist and continues to host the show since its inception in April 2007.

When Brzezinski was working at the WTIC-TV Network in Hartford, Connecticut, she met James Patrick Hoffer, a TV News reporter. After dating for a while, the couple got married in October 1993. Together thay have two children, daughters named Emilie and Carlie Hoffer. After being married for 23 years, the couple parted ways and were officially divorced in 2016.
Brzezinski announced in early 2017 that she has gotten engaged to Joe Scarborough, her co-host on the ‘Morning Joe’ show.
