Michael Anthony Strahan is a former professional American football player and currently a media personality. He spent his entire football career as a defensive for the New York Giants and won the Super Bowl in 2007, his final season. He got elected to ‘Pro Football Hall of Fame’ in 2014.
After retirement, Strahan joined the media industry and worked as co-host at the ‘Live! with Kelly and Michael’ show. After leaving Fox, in 2017, he began working for the morning show on ABC ‘Good Morning America’, Fox NFL Sunday as an analyst, and as host at the $100,000 Pyramid game show on ABC.
Early Life and Education
Michael was born on 21 November 1971 in Houston, Texas to a retired boxer and Army Major Gene Willie Strahan, and a basketball coach, Louise Strahan. He has five older siblings and is the nephew of retired football professional Arthur Strahan.
Gene was posted to Mannheim, West Germany when Michael was nine years old. There he attended the Mannheim American High School where he played organized football as a linebacker for the team Mannheim Redskins.
Michael relocated to Houston and attended Westbury High School for senior year. During this time he lived with his uncle Arthur. He played school football for one season and that was sufficient for him to get admission to Texas Southern University via scholarship. He then went back to Germany and finished graduation from Mannheim Christian.
College football: At Texas Southern University, Strahan played as a defensive and was very dominant. He won several awards and recognitions and became a good NFL prospect after just his junior season. The 41.5 career sacks by Strahan is a record at Texas Southern.
Career
Strahan was drafted by the New York Giants in 1993. The initial years were not that great and the first few seasons were insignificant. He got his big break in 1997 where he had a record 14 sacks. In 1998 he had 15 sacks and 22.5 in 2001. Strahan thought about retirement in the mid 2000s due to frequent injuries, but he stayed on and led his team to his first Super Bowl victory over Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in 2007.
His records over a career spanning 15 years include 141.5 career sacks, 3 career touchdowns, 4 career interceptions, 854 career tackles, and 24 forced fumbles in 200 games. His name featured 7 times in the Pro Bowl roster.

Michael married Wanda Hutchins in Germany. The couple has two children, but the marriage ended in divorce.
Strahan married for the second time Jean Muggil in 1999 and they had twin daughters. This marriage also ended in divorce, wherein Michael had to pay $18000 as child support and $15 million as alimony money.
The 1.96 meter tall Strahan began dating Eddie Murphy’s ex-wife Nicole Mitchell in 2009. They were engaged, but the relationship ended due to the problem of their busy schedules. Michael is currently dating Kayla Quick, a former club waitress. The couple was spotted by media at St. Barts beach on 29 March 2016.
