Early life and education
Elton John was born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947 in Pinner, Middlesex to Stanley Dwight and Sheila Eileen. John’s parents married when he was six years old and he grew up in his maternal grandparents’ house in Pinner and later moved to an adjoining house after his parents’ marriage.
John pursued his education from Pinner Wood Junior School and later changed schools to Reddiford School and then to Pinner County Grammar School. He dropped out of his school just before his A levels examination and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. But John’s father did not approve solely for such an unstable career and wanted him to pursue a career in banking.

- John was set to be married to his long time girlfriend Linda Woodrow in 1960 but their engagement was called off.
- He later married Renate Blauel on February 14, 1984 who was a German record engineer. This marriage raised a lot of speculation regarding his sexuality and posts his divorce with Blauel, he came out as gay in a magazine interview.
- John signed the civil partnership forms with his boyfriend David Furnish on December 21, 2005 and was one of the first to legally sign the papers in the UK. The couple later married on December 21, 2014 after gay marriage got legalized in the United Kingdom. The couple have two sons, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John.
Career
John rose to fame following the release of the album Empty Sky in 1969. Some of the famous songs released by him include Your Song, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Island Girl and the list goes on.
He again hit the top of the music charts with the song Don’t Go Breaking my Heart which he did a duet with Kiki Dee. He even released two autobiographies, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Boy and The Captain and the Kid. His latest album includes the one he released on 2016 titled as Wonderful Crazy Night.
