Jason Kent Bateman is a famous American film and television actor, director and producer best known for his work in several comedy films. Bateman gained recognition after he made his acting debut in 1981 with the popular television series ‘Little House on the Prairie’. Bateman also appeared in the sitcom ‘Silver Spoons’ from 1982–1984 and ‘The Hogan Family’ from 1986-1991. He made his silver screen debut in 1987 with the film ‘Teen Wolf Too’ in 1987.
Bateman became a household name after appearing as Michael Bluth in the critically acclaimed situational comedy ‘Arrested Development’ that started airing in 2003, having appeared in all 4 seasons in the lead role, which earned him both, a Golden Globe as well as a Satellite Award. Early Life and Education
Bateman was born on 14 January 1969 in Rye, New York, the son of Pan Am flight attendant Victoria Elizabeth, born in Shropshire, England and film actor, director and writer Kent Bateman, who also founded a Hollywood repertory stage. He was first raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where his family relocated when he was four years old and later grew up in California. Bateman has one biological sibling, an elder sister, Justine Bateman, who appears on the NBC sitcom ‘Family Ties’ and three half-siblings, all brothers.
Bateman completed his primary education from a school in Salt Lake City and later studied at William Howard Taft Charter High School in Los Angeles, California. He then enrolled at Pacific Hills School, Hollywood California, but did not graduate from either high schools and embarked upon a career in acting, having started his career as a child artiste in 1981.

Bateman dated actress Amanda Anka who is also singer Paul Anka’s daughter for several years and married her in July 2001. Together, they have two children, daughters Francesca Nora Bateman and Maple Sylvie Bateman born in 2006 and 2012 respectively. The family lives in New York City.
The 1.8 meter tall Bateman struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the 1990’s and labelled it “risky business” after gaining sobriety. He underwent a surgery in 2012 after a benign polyp was detected in his throat.
