Julie Gibson is a former American film and television actress and singer who is best known for the work during the 1940’s. Gibson began her career in the entertainment Industry working with the Jimmie Grier Orchestra in the capacity of a singer. She then embarked on an acting career in which also, she won several singing roles. Gibson is best known for her appearances in two ‘The Three Stooges’ movies in the 1940’s, namely ‘Sock-a-Bye Baby’ and ‘Three Smart Saps’.
Gibson forayed into acting in 1941 when she appeared in several supporting and cameo roles, which were often left uncredited. She started gaining prominence in 1944 when she won her first role as a lead actress in the film ‘Lucky Cowboy’. The following year, she made her television debut with the 15-part television series ‘Chick Carter, Detective’. Gibson also featured in films like ‘Bowery Buckaroos’ and ‘Are You with It?’. She was last seen in the 1960’s sit-com ‘Family Affair’ in which she served as a dialogue supervisor.

Gibson was born as Gladys Camille Soray on 6 September 1913 in the American city of Lewiston, Idaho, as the daughter of her parents although some sources claim that Grant County, Washington is her official place of birth. Not much is known about Gibson’s early life. Gibson is one of the oldest people alive in the world to have survived both the First and the Second World War. While she was a toddler at the beginning of the first World War, she had an active acting career during the Second.

Gibson began her career working as a singer for the Jimmie Grier Orchestra which earned her considerable notice and led to her being cast in small roles in films in 1941. She made her silver screen debut in a minor role in the 1941 with the film ‘Nice Girls?’ starring Deanna Durbin and Franchot Tone. In the same year, she appeared in the film ‘The Feminine Touch’ in which she appeared as a singer of the “I’m Jealous” Song.
Gibson gained nationwide prominence in 1944 when she was cast in the lead role of Kate in American- Western film ‘Lucky Cowboy’. She then appeared in the 1946 Columbian Pictures Film series ‘Chick Carter, Detective’ that featured 15 episodes of 15 minutes each. Gibson essayed the role of singer Sherry Marvin the series. Gibson portrayed the supporting character of Carolyn Biggs in 1947 comedy film ‘Bowery Buckaroos’ and appeared in the role of Ann in the 1948 American musical comedy ‘Are You with It?’. Gibson also appeared in ‘Three Smart Saps’, and Sock-a-Bye Baby which were both parts of ‘The Three Stooges’ film franchise. In the 1950’s Gibson mostly appeared in supporting roles in films and TV and served in the capacity of a dialogue supervisor on the 1960’s sit-com ‘Family Affair’.

Gibson has been married two times. Gibson dated and married Dean Dillman in 1964 but the marriage was short-lived, and the couple divorced after three years of marriage in 1967. The couple did not have any children.
Gibson then entered a romantic relationship with actor Charles Barton who also served as a film director. The couple tied the knot in 1973 and remained together until Barton died in 1981. Gibson did not have any children with Barton either.
