Angela McGlowan is a renowned American political commentator and television personality who is known for her appearance on Fox News and Fox Business News where she serves a political contributor. McGlowan is also a former beauty pageant contestant from District of Columbia, and a best-selling author. She serves as the founder and CEO of her firm Political Strategies & Insights (PSI), which addresses government affairs, public relations and political strategy, based in in Oxford, Mississippi, McGlowan announced her intent to contest the 1st congressional district Congress of Mississippi against Democrat Travis Childers i February 2010. She was placed in the third position after losing the Republican primary and garnering only 20% votes. McGlowan holds the distinction of being both, the first woman and the First African-American candidate to run in the 1st congressional district of Mississippi.
Early Life and Education
McGlowan was born on 3 March 1970 in the city of Oxford in Mississippi as one of the five children of educator and minister late Rev. James Thomas McGlowan who identified himself as an Independent, and his Democratic wife. She spent a major part of her childhood in Lafayette County, Mississippi and was raised in an African American family along with her four siblings. McGlowan has Native American, Irish and Scottish ancestry. She lost her father when she was 12 years old.
McGlowan’s parents encouraged their children to value education. Her father established the first separate high school for the African-American community in 1950. As such, McGlowan completed her primary, secondary and high school education and later attended the University of Mississippi where she was a very bright student. McGlowan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in public administration with a concentration on political science and criminal justice.

Career Rise
McGlowan began her career professionally at the Outreach for the Better America Foundation where she served as a director under Senator Bob Dole, the honorary chairman and conducted policy meeting with Congress members and also served as the spokesperson to Republican and Independent constituencies who showed interest in policy objectives. In 1994, McGlowan participated in the Miss USA pageant as a representative of District of Columbia. She also served as a press secretary under John Ensign who represented Nevada’s first district and also became Mirage Resorts, Inc.’s public affairs assistant.
McGlowan started serving as a director of Diversity Development and Government Affairs under the News Corporation of Rupert Murdoch in 1999, responsible for developing and implementing diversity within Fox Entertainment Group and its subsidiaries and also served as its advocate and lobbyist, serving in the position until 1999.
