Early life
Nancy O’Dell was born in Sumter, South California, on February 25, 1966. She went to Coastal Academy High School, before graduating from Clemson University in 1990. She became a successful model, earning the Miss South Carolina tag in 1997 and even clinching the preliminary swimsuit round in Miss America pageant, 1998. She was also the 1st runner up for Miss South Carolina in 1990,
Journalistic career
O’Dell was fascinated by journalism and started off as a reporter for WPDE-TV in South Carolina. Moving to Charleston in the next few years, she groomed herself as a morning news anchor and a reporter for crime beat. So phenomenal was her rise, that her work was given the tag of ‘The Best Report of the Year’ award by the Associated Press, for her DUI-related assignments.
In 1996, O’Dell started working on the entertainment section for a tabloid show known as ‘A Current Affair’. She then bagged the prestigious job on ‘Access Hollywood’ (1996) where she got high exposure in covering major events like The Academy Awards, The Grammys, The Golden Globe Awards, and the Emmys. She co-hosted couple of Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. She also dabbled with TV doing small roles in the TV series ‘Charmed’ and playing herself in the ‘Scream’ movie series.
O’Dell partnered with Billy Bush and both of them hosted ‘Access Hollywood’ till 2009. In 2009, she moved on to hosting ‘Entertainment Tonight’, which she does till date. In the same year, she had to also undergo a surgery for torn meniscus.

Controversy
Nancy O’Dell found her name dragged in the infamous video tape controversy on October 10, 2016. In that video, Donald Trump is seen taking her name while discussed about a failed attempt to have a go at her. Her co-anchor Billy Bush is heard laughing and cheering him. The video tape dated back to 2005 and had a huge impact when it was released in 2016. Nancy O’Dell condemned the content in the video and said that it was sad that women and people in general, were objectified in this day and age.
