Maria Molina Timmer, previously known by her maiden name Maria Molina, is a renowned American television personality and meteorologist who is best known for her work at the Fox Network’s Fox News Channel, of which she serves as the official meteorologist. Timmer also has the honour of holding a membership at the prestigious American Meteorological Society. Timmer started gaining recognition after she started appearing on the popular daily mornings news and talk show conservative program ‘Fox and Friends ‘.

Timmer began her career, serving as an intern at several American local broadcasting networks which include the NBC affiliate WTVJ-TV in Miami, Florida. In 2012, Timmer became the youngest ever meteorologist to make a cable and broadcast television appearance. Timmer has also made regular appearances on several channels of the Fox network, including Fox Business network, Fox Sports Network and even Fox Radio. She has also served as a special correspondent for several Fox Specials.

Early life and Education

Timmer was born as Maria Molina on 7th April 1987 in Nicaragua but her parents immigrated to the United States before she turned 1 year old and settled in Hialeah city, in Miami-Dade County, Florida where she was raised. Hialeah became synonymous with the devastating Hurricane Andrew with Timmer attributing her interest in weather and meteorology because of the destruction she witnessed when she was five.  Her family later relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Trimmer completed her graduation from the Barbara Goleman Senior High School and later attended Florida State University from where she graduated cum laude in the year 2008, with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology and minors in Communications and Mathematics. She then attended Columbia University, New York City to pursue a Masters of Arts degree in the field of Climate and Society, graduating in 2015.

Career Rise

Molina began her television-meteorology career, serving as an intern at various American local cable TV channels including the Florida based NBC affiliate WTVJ-TV. Her she first employed in the capacity of a meteorologist at the Tallahasee, Florida based student-run live weather show ‘4FSU Weather’, that aired on a local cable channel. She also served at the Pennsylvania State College based AccuWeather in the capacity of a bilingual Television meteorologist providing weather reports and forecasts in both English and Spanish languages.

Timmer started gaining nationwide prominence in October 2010, when she was offered the position of a meteorologist by the Fox network, particularly for the Fox News Channel where she served as a weather reporter on several shows of the network. Timmer soon became one of the most notable faces on Fox network after she began making regular appearances on the popular morning show FOX and Friends. She also appearance regularly on several other channels of the Fox network which include the Fox Business Network, Fox News Latino, Fox News Radio, and Fox Sports Network. Timmer resigned from Fox to enrol into a PhD program at Central Michigan University, where she is both a graduate research assistant and a student. She currently serves as a part-time part time meteorologist at WJBK.

Husband

Timmer was speculated to be romantically involved with fellow meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer for several years, but never publicly acknowledged her relationship with him until they announced their engagement in October 2014. The couple got married a year later in a ceremony at the Masaya Volcano National Park, Nicaragua in December 2015. Timmer has legally adopted her husband’s last name after marriage.

Timmer, is also a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) of the American Meteorological Society, of which she is a member.
