Katy Mixon is a renowned American film and television actress known for her role on the HBO series Eastbound & Down where she portrayed April Buchanon. Mixon is best recognized for her role on the CBS comedy ‘Mike and Molly’ in which she essayed the role of Victoria Flynn, the sister of Melissa McCarthy’s character Molly Flynn, that proved to be her biggest role till date. In 2016, Mixon started starring in the ABC comedy ‘American Housewife’ playing the lead role of Katie Otto.

In the early days of her career, Mixon appeared in several movies in supporting roles, some of which were ‘The Quiet’ in 2005, ‘Four Christmases’ in 2008, ‘All About Steve’ and ‘State of Play’ in 2009. She also appeared in hit television series’ like ‘Two and a Half Men’ and ‘My Name is Earl’. Mixon also played a role in the Oscar nominated film ‘Hell or High Water’ in 2016 and voiced the character of Tina Nelson in the 2015 film ‘Minions’.

Early Life and Education

Mixon was born on 30 March 1981 in Pensacola, Florida, as one of the seven children of her parents, mother Donna and father Fred Mixon, where she was also raised. Her siblings include 3 sisters named Sarah, Emily and Laura Mixon. She is of White Ethnicity.

Mixon completed her primary and high school education from Pensacola. She is a graduate of the Pensacola Private School of Liberal Arts. Mixon moved to Alabama to study fine arts at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Birmingham, Alabama. She later attended Carnegie Mellon University’s School Of Drama, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in 2003, moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally. 


Career Rise

Mixon debuted on the silver screen with the 2005 thriller movie ‘The Quiet’ in which she portrayed the role of Michelle Fell, sharing screen space with Camilla Bell and Elisha Cuthbert. She portrayed the supporting character of Suzie in the 2006 rom-com ‘Blind Dating’. Her next role was in the 2008 comedy ‘Four Christmases’ in which she played Susan, the young wife of Jon Favreau. Mixon made her television debut in an episode of the show ‘My Name is Earl’. She continued to make appearances in both films and TV, appearing in movies like ‘The Informers’, ‘State of Play’, ‘All About Steve’, ‘Drive Angry’, ‘Take Shelter’, ‘Hell and High Water’ etc. She voiced Tina Nelson in ‘Minions’.

Mixon became a prominent face on television after being cast in Chuck Lorre’s comedy series ‘Mike and Molly’, in which she essayed the character of Victoria Flynn, with co-stars Mellisa McCarthy, Billy Gardell, Swoosie Kurtz and Reno Wilson. Mixon was labelled as “the funniest part” of the show. The show aired on CBS for six seasons from 2010-2016. Mixon also gained recognition for her work on the HBO series ‘Eastbound & Down’, appearing in 20 episodes between 2009 and 2013. Some of her other television roles include, ‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘Wilfred’, ‘Psych’ and ‘The Looney Tunes Show’. Personal Life

Mixon was formerly involved in a romantic relationship with Bobby Deen, who is the son of celebrity chef Paula Deen. The couple dated for 3 years from 2010-2013 until they announced their breakup.

After splitting from Deen in 2013, Mixon entered into a relationship with American javelin thrower Breaux Greer in the same year. The couple got engaged in May 2017, after the birth of their son Kingston Saint Greer, who Mixon gave birth to at the age of 36.
