Kellyanne Elizabeth Conway is the current Counselor to the President of the United States, i.e., Donald Trump. She was formerly the CEO and president of The Polling Company Inc. and had been a strategist, campaign manager for Republican Party, and a pollster.

Conway was the co-chair of ‘Keep the Promise I,’ a pro-Cruz PAC in the 2016 Republican presidential primaries. After Cruz withdrew from the primaries, she was appointed as senior advisor by Trump. Later, she was promoted as the campaign manager of Trump’s election campaign and thus became the first woman to successfully run a presidential campaign.

On 22nd December 2016, Kellyanne was chosen as Counselor to the President and currently serves alongside White House chief strategist and assistant to the President, Steve Bannon.

Since the inauguration of President Trump, Kellyanne has been involved in varied controversies such as publicly endorsing Ivanka Trump’s commercial products, and Bowling Green massacre lie, etc. This has led to questioning of her credibility by different media outlets and some have even refused personal interview requests from Conway.

Early Life and Education

Kellyanne Elizabeth Fitzpatrick was born in Camden, New Jersey, on 20th January 1967 to bank worker Diane Fitzpatrick and a small truck company owner. Her parents got divorced when she was 3 years old.

Kellyanne grew up in Waterford Township, New Jersey and attended the St. Joseph High School. During 8 successive summers she worked at a blueberry farm located in Hammonton, NJ. She won the New Jersey Blueberry Princess pageant at age 16 and the World Champion Blueberry Packing competition at age 20.

Conway then went to Trinity College, Washington, D.C and passed out with a BA degree in political science. She then studied law at George Washington University Law School and got her Juris Doctor in 1992.

Career

After graduating from law school, Conway worked as a judicial clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for Judge Richard A. Levie.

When Kellyanne was still studying law she worked as a research assistant for Republican polling company called Wirthlin Group. She thus got a taste of the polling business. Hence, instead of joining a law firm after college, she started working for Luntz Research Companies.

In 1995, Kellyanne launched her own company called the Polling Company. The firm consulted on varied aspects, especially consumer trends focusing on women. Some of the clients of the Polling Company include American Express, Vaseline, and Hasbro.

Politically, Conway has worked for Senator Fred Thompson, Congressman Jack Kemp, Congressman Mike Pence, and House Speaker Newt Gingrich. She was also the senior advisor to the unsuccessful 2012 presidential campaign of Gingrich.

  • Kellyanne is married to George T. Conway III, a litigation partner since 2001 at the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. The couple is parents to 4 children, two of whom are twins.
  • The family resides in Alpine, New Jersey.
  • Conway co-authored a book in 2005 named ‘What Women Really Want: How American Women Are Quietly Erasing Political, Racial, Class, and Religious Lines to Change the Way We Live’
