Delevingne was born on 12 August 1992 in Hammersmith, London to Charles Hamar Delevingne, a property developer and his wife Pandora Anne Stevens and was raised in the affluent Belgravia, district of London along with her older sisters named Chloe and Poppy, also a model. She is a decendent of the Anglo-Jewish Faudel-Phillips baronets.
Delevingne was educated at the Francis Holland Girls School, Central London until the age of 16 from where she completed her GCSE examinations. She suffered from dyspraxia and found school challenging. She later attended Bedales School in Hampshire where she studied music and drama but soon dropped out to pursue a career in modelling.

Delevingne debuted as a model at age 10 in a ‘Vogue Italia’ editorial shoot by Bruce Weber. She was signed on by Sarah Doukas’ ‘Storm Model Management’ agency. Delevingne made her catwalk debut in February 2011 at the ‘London Fashion Week’, walking for Burberry Prorsum’s autumn/winter collection. She opened and closed the proceeding at London fashion Week in September 2011, once again for Burberry Prorsum’s spring/summer 2012 collection. Delevingne claims to have battled depression as a 15-year-old owing to her mother’s drug addiction. She took professional help and medication to over-come her depression at 16 years of age.
