Aamir Khan is a famous Indian film actor, producer and director who is known to be the perfectionist in the Indian cinema with his selective movies. He has cemented his place in the Indian cinema with his amazing performances and acting skills. He has also won several numbers of awards for his acting including the National Film Awards and even the Filmfare Awards.

Khan started off his career as a child artist in the 1973 film Yaadon Ki Baarat and later rose to fame after playing the pivotal role in the movie Qayamat se Qayamat Tak in the year 1988. Following that, he starred in a number of superhit films including Dil, Raja Hindustani, Sarfarosh, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and so on. He started his production company in the year 2001 and the first film was Lagaan which was even selected in the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

Keeping aside all the fame and glamour, Aamir is a very popular humanitarian and was even very much appreciated for hosting the show Satyameva Jayate which was credited all throughout the globe. He was even honoured with two of the highest civilian awards in India, the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010.

Early life and education

Aamir was born on March 14, 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Tahir Hussain and Zeenat Hussain. His father was a film producer and his mother was a home maker. Several of his relatives were part of the Indian film industry, his late uncle Nasir Hussain being a famous producer and director. He has a brother, Faisal Khan and two sisters, Farhat Khan and Nikhat Khan.

He pursued his education from the J.B Petit High School and later switched to St. Anne’s High School in Bandra. Aamir did his ninth and tenth grade from the Bombay Scottish School and finally finished his twelfth grade from the Narsee Monjee College. His childhood was not the absolute best and their family struggled a lot financially due to his father’s failing movies.

Wife/s and children

Aamir Khan married Reena Dutta on April 18, 1986 and is proud parents of two children Junaid and Ira. The couple divorced after Aamir applied for divorce in 2002.

Aamir later remarried Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005 and the couple have a son together, Azad Rao Khan.

Aamir started off his career acting in several documentaries directed by the students who studied in FTTI, Pune and he was later offered a role in Ketan Mehta’s movie Holi in the year 1984. He later went onto playing the role of Raj in Qayamat se Qayamat Tak alongside Juhi Chawla which put him in the spotlight of the Indian Cinema.

The 1.65 meter tall Aamir has always kept up the tradition of releasing only one or two films per year, focusing on making the movie perfect. Following the release of Lagaan, his next big project was that of Dil Chahta Hain which even won the Filmfare Award. Some of the superhit films that he did include Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, PK and the list go on. His latest film, Dangal released on December 23, 2016, is the highest earning grosser in the history of Bollywood and second biggest hit in Indian cinema (as on 2017).

Aamir Khan has an estimated net worth of $180 million.   Two of his movies, Dangal (2016) and PK (2014) are the highest grossing movies of Bollywood, of all time.

House

Aamir Khan lives in a sea-facing house, Frida Apartments at Carter Road, Bandra. He had been apparently staying on rent on that 5000 square feet house, before he bought the house for Rs. 60 crore. He used to pay a monthly rent of Rs. 10 lakh when he would stay in the rent at that house.

He also has another house at Marina Apartments at Pali Hill.  Aamir Khan also owns a palatial property at Panchgani, where a few scenes of Taare Zameen Par, were shot.
